Roadmap of Change

Nordwest2050 is to develop the Roadmap of Change for the entire Bremen-Oldenburg Metropolitan Region. It involves a long-term climate adaptation strategy for the various industries and sectors of the Metropolitan Region in order to provide successful management of climate change, even after conclusion of the research project.

By opening up a planned course of action through 2050, nordwest2050 will draft a roadmap for the food industry oriented toward the long-term needs both of the industry as a whole and of it sectors, even beyond the course of the project. Climate change is thus increasingly being linked to issues of economic, societal and ecological sustainability, both in the regional context and beyond it. For the food industry, that means challenges which – as in the case of other industries too – are often discrepant in relation to the current situation. That means that the empirical surveys and analyses carried out by nordwest2050 in the region with regard to business-level approaches are being implemented with respect to changes which are to be placed in relation to the requirements of other industry clusters within the context of nordwest2050 for the levels of

1. the direct frame of reference within companies,
2. the long-term orientation toward future sustainability, and
3. the greater biophysical context.

This process of the integration will be carried out in a participatory manner with stakeholders in the region.
